Linda McDermott Westfeldt was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and moved to
the Austin, Texas area upon the birth of her beloved granddaughter, Allie (a/k/a Alexandre). In 2004 she wrote, illustrated and published a picture
book about Allie and Buttons, Linda’s rescue Chihuahua, who came to live
with her in December, 2003. Titled BUTTONS’ BIG EARS, it was introduced
at the Texas Book Festival in Austin, Texas in October, 2004. Part of the
proceeds from any sales will be donated to help other rescue animals find
their “forever homes” just like Buttons did.

Allie is also the inspiration behind a series of children’s picture books
Linda has written chronicling the adventures of Princess Allie, Amy the
Armadillo, and their magical friends. Her latest project is a chapter book
featuring the outrageously unique animals who live on the Klunkengiggle
farm in Texas and their misadventures when a mysterious blue and yellow
longhorn is born there.

Linda is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and
Illustrators, Austin Chapter, and a founding member of the Austintatious
Red Hat Society – a group of Austin ladies who celebrate turning 50!
She and Buttons live only a hop, skip and a jump away from Princess Allie
and Linda’s son, Sean, who had the good fortune to marry his soul mate
and best friend, Presha.

Linda, and occasionally Buttons herself, will be available for school
visits on a limited basis.
