TLA Speakers Guide Being Compiled Now
Posted November 21, 2011 in Opportunities
Houston is hosting the Texas Library Association conference (TLA) in April 2012. If you are a published SCBWI member with PAL listed books, this is your opportunity to have your information distributed to librarians in Texas, the perfect way to be considered for school visits and other speaking engagements.
Attention all published and PAL listed SCBWI authors and illustrators! Would you like a way to get your name and book information in front of all the librarians in Texas? Here is an easy way to achieve this. The annual conference of the Texas Library Association Conference will be held in Houston this year from April 17 to April 20, 2012. Again, all five Texas SCBWI chapters have joined together to produce a Speakers Guide to be given out to the librarians at TLA.
TLA is often cited (and rarely disputed as) the best state show in all of the US. It lives up the adage “everything is big in Texas”.
Attendance is consistently over 7,000 librarians and exhibitors. This show attracts all types of librarians but with the primary mix being from school and public libraries. TLA offers unparalleled exposure and opportunities to market your books and services to the library community. With library budgets even tighter than ever, this is a way to get your name in front of the decision makers at a low cost.
Where else can you get your information in front of thousands of librarians for only $45? If your goal is to book school visits and speaking engagements you can’t afford not to be in this year’s Speakers Guide.
The guide will be on slick paper, full color, 8 1/2 by 11. Each author/illustrator will have a one third page with their info, a photo and one of their book covers featured, full pages are available for $100. This sourcebook has resulted in bookings for school visits, library functions and even speaking at a workshop at TLA.
At our SCBWI booth, we will hand out the sourcebook, have drawings for donated books and collect the names and contact information of the librarians so that each author/illustrator who participates in the sourcebook will have access to this list to use for future promotions.
The TLA Annual Conference has a proven track record to offer you an unparalleled opportunity to reach decision-makers from throughout Texas and from every segment of the library community: academic, public, school, and special library markets. Don’t miss out on this opportunity, pages are limited.
