New Year Newsletter – Jan. 2012

Happy, happy, happy 2012, everyone! Can’t you just feel the sparkle of endless possiblities crackling all around you? Together, let’s make some marvelous things happen. What do you say?

To start things off right, multi-published author Brian Yansky will be presenting Getting Organized at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 14th at BookPeople. Brian will be sharing his secrets of success regarding how to keep all of the loose ends of crafting a manuscript in control while attempting to balance a busy everyday life.  Please make note of the new monthly meeting time – 10:00 am on the 2nd floor, to be followed by the Chapter Open Critique Meeting at 11:00 on the 3rd floor.

And, for a very special New Year’s treat, on the same day at 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on BookPeople’s 3rd floor, Tim Crow will be joined by Lynne Kelly Hoenig to share the wisdom they gleaned when they attended the celebrated Story Masters Workshop with Chris Vogler, James Scott Bell, and Donald Maass. Tim and Lynne will be sharing in a casual, conversational setting. This event promises to be almost be as good as attending the real deal!

Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:00 pm marks the date and time for Vicious Valentine: A YA Fantasy Celebration featuring Jordan Dane, P.J. “Tricia” Hoover, Mari Mancusi, Rosemary Clement-Moore, Cynthia Leitich Smith, and L.A. Weatherly—moderated by Sean Petrie. Festivities will take place at BookPeople in Austin. Whether you love love or hate it, this is an event you won’t want to miss.

2012 REGIONAL CONFERENCE NEWS! The Girllustrators have joined the Conference Committee and are super-excited to help coordinate all facets of the illustrator experience. We are thrilled to welcome Patrice Barton, Shelley Ann Jackson, Marsha Riti, and Divya Srinivsana as part of the crew!

Regarding the conference, in a few weeks, be looking for a special ASCBWI Regional: Something for Everybody newsletter to be coming your way complete with auction item information, schedule updates, and the like. There is still time for you to register, if you haven’t already, and there are still a few spots available in some of the small group intensive sessions, as well.

Come on and join in the Regional Conference fun. Let’s kick off 2012 with some serious creative snap, crackle, and POP!
