Salima Alikhan pursued writing and illustration when she realized her lifelong love of both would never leave her alone. She grew up with an Indian father, a German mother, and a plethora of creepy, grotesque fantasy stories. This undoubtedly inspired her to create her first illegible picture books in preschool, complete with illustrations. She is hugely happy and fortunate to have illustrated two trade picture books, Pieces of Another World and Rocky Mountain Night Before Christmas. Her third trade picture book, the Pied Piper of Austin, is due out by Pelican Publishing Company in 2009.
