Though the children’s market is new to her, Laura is no stranger to writing. For more than 20 years, she has written and published articles, poetry and stories. She taught college-level English, creative writing, and poetry courses at Loyola Marymount University and El Camino College in California. She has edited publications from magazines to teachers’ editions to public relations pieces and newsletters. For a while, Laura served as publisher for Red Wheelbarrow Press, dealing with the business side of writing.

Currently mother to three children, Laura has been coordinating the Travis Heights Elementary Young Writers’ Workshop, where 20 local writers are paired with students in hands-on workshops that introduce the ways writing is used in the real world.
