Austin SCBWI

A native Texan and resident of Austin since 1991, Midge Beard has worked in the graphic design/print/publishing business for over 20 years. She currently works out of her studio in Austin, Texas as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer.

Next to drawing, her two most favorite things are dreaming at night and eating Italian food. Obviously, not at the same time.

As she puts it:

“I’ve always had this weird “knowing” that creating pictures was what I really wanted to do. Not just dreaming them, but putting them to paper. This was not just a childish whim, but a deep-seated longing and desire to create. I remember looking at picture books, thinking ( I still do, actually) how beautiful they were. To me, they were brief bits of remarkable words and images that I could take with me and remember for a lifetime. Sort of like……dreaming.”
