Kemp, Sue - Writer and Illustrator
|
I began college as an art major, but was convinced that being a teacher would be a better career move. So, I earned a B.S and M.Ed. in Elementary Education. The bad news is I only lasted 3 1/2 years. The good news is, I fell in love with watercolor. That was over 20 years ago. Now I work as a fine artist, watercolor instructor and children’s book writer and illustrator.
In 1998, I illustrated Sick Bay by Sharon Olexa Crandall, Astoria Productions, Ltd. My watercolors have been included in several books including Splash 7-A Celebration of Light, The Best of Watercolor-Painting Color, and The Encyclopedia of Watercolor Landscape Techniques. The summer 2003 issue of Watercolor Magazine featured an article about me.
I am also a signature member of Southwestern and Texas Watercolor Societies. I have recently written and illustrated a picture book and am currently seeking a publisher. My inspiration came from my travels to the rainforests of Costa Rica and Guatemala. I especially love to paint animals and scenes from nature using vivid colors and look forward to illustrating more books for young children.
