Lindsey's first children's book, SNUGGLE MOUNTAIN, is coming out this spring with Clarion. Lindsey credits her start as a writer to having grown up in a house with really large dormer closets. From as far back as she can remember, these closets were part-library and part-dollhouse. In there, she read and had tea parties with her dolls. Later as a teenager, she tucked herself away to write in her journal, compose long letters to friends and read, read, read. Gradually, she became more public in her writing and graduated with a BA in Theatre Arts, Playwriting. She had many of her plays produced in Austin, including The Miracle of Washing Dishes, which received a B. Iden Payne Award for Best Script in 1991. Poverty led her to journalism and for five years, she worked as a feature writer at the Austin American Statesman and the Austin Chronicle. When she became a mom, she turned her focus to children's books. While she is working on her second, third and fourth picture book (publisher unknown), she loves to do school visits and readings. She lives in Austin with her husband Pedro Acosta and their six-year-old daughter Gabriella.
