Sullivan, Mary - Writer and Illustrator
|
Mary Sullivan was born on November 18, 1958 and currently lives in Austin, Texas.
She writes:
In my formative years I had a significant interest in art and spent a great deal of time drawing. (Thank you Dad for the little white drawing table you built for me!) I received a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin but I consider myself a self-trained illustrator.
My childhood memories are of the many hours I spent perusing books, studying closely each illustration, transporting myself into the illustrations. To this day I keep a View-Master in my toy box!
Over the last few years, my passion for drawing has resulted in a large collection of unique sketches and drawings. I have shown my work at galleries and coffee shops in Austin and have recently began channeling my creative energy into illustrating for children. I recently finished illustrating my first picture book with author Susan Taylor Brown. It will be out in the Fall 2005. I am currently working with Highlights for Children on various projects.
I am excited by the ability to bring to paper any thought, dream or experience. Drawing allows me to translate emotions and experiences through my own language of line, shape and color.
