Jerry Wermund, a member of the Austin Chapter of the Society of Book Writers and Illustrators since 1995, writes for children about Earth, nature, and environment. He intends to help readers better understand geology, especially in the formative grades of elementary school. You can meet him on his web site: www.rockonpub.com.
Jerry has written and published three 48 page colored picture books; EARTHSCAPES - LANDFORMS SCULPTED BY WATER, WIND AND ICE (Photographs) and THE WORLD ACCORDING to ROCK and FOCUS ON MINERALS (Water Colors by Tony Sansevero). He has published poems in two anthologies.
His professional geology career expands fifty years in academia and industry. He includes many work and travel experiences in his writing of poetry and stories. He gives his readers views from locations in the United States and Alaska and ten countries.
Jerry lives in the small town of Buda, Texas, where he writes and manages Rockon Publishing. From there he pursues engagements in schools using his books to excite children about geology, rocks, landforms and poetry.
