An avowed bibliophile, Jo Whittemore has been reading (and hoarding) books since she was old enough to tuck a library card into her Smurf wallet. This passion segued into a love for writing and the desire to share her own stories with others. After graduating with a business degree from Texas A&M University, Jo found more time to pursue her dream of writing fantasy novels for the younger generation.

When she isn’t writing, Jo maintains her pale complexion by playing online computer games with her husband Roger or taking in a comedy or action film. She and her husband also enjoy traveling, with Las Vegas being one of the favored destinations.

An SCBWI member since 2003, Jo credits the organization for encouraging her to pursue a lead that has since gained her a contract with Llewellyn Worldwide Ltd. Her first young adult novel with them is due for release in the spring of 2006.
