Greg Leitich Smith is the author of Ninjas, Piranhas, and Galileo (Little Brown, 2003)(Recorded Books, 2004)(ages 10-up) and its companion book, Tofu and T.Rex (Little Brown, 2005)(ages 10-up). Ninjas, Piranhas, and Galileo was a Junior Library Guild selection, Parents’ Choice Gold Medal Winner, and winner of the Writers’ League of Texas Teddy Award for Best (Long) Children’s Book. His forthcoming title is Santa Knows (Dutton, 2006)(ages 4-up).

Greg attended a science magnet school, Lane Tech High School in Chicago, where he was raised. Greg was born, however, in nearby Evanston.

A patent lawyer by day, Greg holds with academic honors: a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana; a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas, Austin; and a jurist doctor from The University of Michigan Law School, Ann Arbor. Today, Greg makes his home in Austin, Texas, with his wife, author Cynthia Leitich Smith.
