Bratton, Donna Bowman - Writer
Donna Bowman Bratton grew up on a ranch in the heart of Central Texas and spent her youth training and showing Quarter horses. A creative imagination resulted from wide open spaces, a plethora of animals, and a favorite oak tree (the perfect office for spinning stories and reading.) It is fair to say that her first love was a horse and her second was writing. She attended Southwest Texas State University with an emphasis on Journalism before leaping into the corporate world.
After 15 years as a successful corporate business owner, Donna returned to writing. With dozens of newspaper and newsletter articles to her credit, Donna’s true passion is writing for children. A graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature, her short story titled Leader of the Band was published in the anthology, Mistletoe Madness, a nonfiction article has been accepted by Cricket Magazine, and three manuscripts have won contest prizes. Several other book and magazine projects are in the works including a middle-grade nonfiction book that has caught the attention of editors.
She has also written and directed four Victorian plays, has been cast as an extra in four motion pictures, and has acted in numerous community theatre productions. It was during a murder mystery performance that she was tragically strangled by a tall, blonde police officer. So she married him. Today, she is blessed with the support of her husband, two remarkable sons, and a giant oak tree not far from her office.
