Sean Petrie grew up in Columbus, OH and Flower Mound, TX. He now lives in Austin. He no longer dresses like a gnome.

On April Fool’s Day, 2001, Sean was invited to join a local comedy improvisational (improv) troupe called ComedySportz. The basics of improv — creating scenes, making things up, and public humiliation — naturally led Sean to children’s fiction. (Seriously, that’s what started me writing.) Since 2002, he has been learning and honing his craft, and currently writes mid-grade fiction. He’s also working on a graphic novel with fellow Austin SCBWI member Christy Stallop. On the improv front, he occasionally performs shows and does workshops for kids.

For money, Sean teaches at UT Law School and practices law part-time.
