So, which is more important – plot, or character? What drives the stories you write and the stories you (and everyone else) like to read? The answer is that both plot and character bear equal weight in the best stories, and few of us can manage that balance in the first draft. Most writers prefer to write by starting either with character or with plot. In this lecture, Janet will discuss techniques for tackling your drafts, whether you are a character-driven crafter or a plot-driven crafter, so that you can complete a fully integrated and compelling story that will resonate with your audience. For six consecutive weeks Austin’s own Liz Garton Scanlon’s Caldecott Honor winning All the World has garnered a spot on the New York Times Best Seller list in places #2, #3, #2, #5, #4, an #8! Wow!
When asked how she feels about this great honor Liz humbly states, “I really can’t believe it since six weeks is about 42 more days that I ever would’ve or could’ve imagined or hoped for!”

Sat., May 15th Master Class/Writing Salon Event Details

A Master Class/Writing Salon for the advanced writer lead by the highly acclaimed author Carol Lynch-Williams will be held on Saturday, May 15th at the Ranch House at Teravista in Round Rock. The cost for this special event is only $80.00. Attendees are asked to submit 5 pages and a synopsis of their current work in progress by April 1 and be prepared to engage an all-group discussion of group members’ manuscripts, lead by Carol.
