Janet Fox to Present “Plot and Character: Crafting the Perfectly Balanced Story” at the April 10th Meeting

So, which is more important – plot, or character? What drives the stories you write and the stories you (and everyone else) like to read? The answer is that both plot and character bear equal weight in the best stories, and few of us can manage that balance in the first draft. Most writers prefer to write by starting either with character or with plot. In this lecture, Janet will discuss techniques for tackling your drafts, whether you are a character-driven crafter or a plot-driven crafter, so that you can complete a fully integrated and compelling story that will resonate with your audience. She will also sign copies of Coretta Scott King honor book, THE MOON OVER STAR, illustrated by Jerry Pinkney, the book President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama selected to read at Capitol City Charter School in Washington, D.C.
